Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement on this
morning's unemployment report:
"This is another indication of how serious our economic problems are and
another reason why we have to keep working to fix this economy.
Yesterday I voted for a budget that is really an economic recovery
plan for the country. It is going to create and sustain jobs by investing in
health care, clean energy and education. And it cuts the deficit by
two-thirds by 2013."
"Earlier this week most Maine families start seeing the benefits of the largest
middle class tax cut in history in their paychecks. This tax cut is part
of the economic recovery act we passed in February that is going to bring
nearly $1 billion in investment to Maine."
"I know Maine families are suffering in this economy and I'm not going to stop
working to find ways to get us back on track."
