Michaud Issues Resource Guides on Stimulus for Maine Families, Small Businesses, and Communities

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Mike Michaud issued two resource guides for H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as the stimulus package.  One resource guide, titled "Help for Individuals, Families and Small Businesses," was created in order to help provide information to Mainers and small businesses on tax provisions (cuts and credits) and benefits available to them.  The other, titled "Information on Programs and Grants for States and Communities," provides information on programs and funding that have been made available to help Maine communities.

"I had my reservations about the final economic stimulus package passed by Congress.  But now that it has become law I believe it's important to let Mainers know what is in it and how it can benefit them," said Michaud.  "I encourage any Mainer who has questions or needs help with any of the information contained in these reports to call my office for assistance."

Michaud has made these reports available through a link on the front page of his website: www.michaud.house.gov.  To access the resource guides directly, click HERE.  They can be viewed online, downloaded, and printed as needed.  Michaud's website also contains links to websites that detail how the stimulus funding is being spent nationwide as well as what the State of Maine is doing.  The full legislative text of the stimulus package is also available for download.

"My office will be working with federal agencies to update these resource guides as further information on each of the programs and how they can be accessed becomes available," said Michaud.

Michaud is making these resource guides available to all the members of the Maine House and Senate in order to assist them in answering constituent questions.
