Voters who left Bangor High after fire alarm closed location can vote until 9:00 p.m.
(BANGOR, MAINE) - The Secretary of State has agreed to keep the Bangor High School polls open for an extra hour for anyone who left the Bangor High polling place after a fire alarm closed the polls for approximately 30 minutes earlier today.
The Maine Democratic Party requested the SOS to consider such as step after hearing that 30-40 voters left the site when the delay occurred.
Voters affected by the fire alarm will be required to sign an affidavit swearing that they were in line at the time of the fire alarm delay. They must be in line by 9:00 p.m. to cast their ballot.
The normal closing time is 8:00 p.m., with the law allowing anyone in line by 8:00 p.m. to cast their ballot.
