Volunteers Prepare to Lead Massive Voter Registration Drive following Historic Convention
(PORTLAND, MAINE)- As Barack Obama prepares to accept his historic nomination at the Democratic National Convention, Mainers across the state will attend trainings this Saturday, August 23, 2008 to gear up for an unprecedented "Working for Change Weekend" following the convention.
The trainings, hosted by Obama's Campaign for Change, will prepare volunteers to lead a massive statewide voter registration drive during the "Working for Change Weekend," Saturday, August 30 through Sunday, August 31. The "Working for Change Weekend" will mark Obama's acceptance of the nomination and will kick off Maine's final sprint toward the November election.
"Mainers are getting involved in record numbers to elect Barack Obama and democrats up and down the ticket this November. This weekend, we will be training volunteers throughout the state to lead a statewide voter registration drive during our ‘Working for Change Weekend' following the convention. Residents interested in leading efforts to make change happen are encouraged to attend," said Ronnie Cho, Obama's Campaign for Change Maine Field Director.
