8/5/2008 - Bands to Draw Youth to York this Sunday, Aug. 10th, For 'Let's Wake It Up' Vote '08 Voter Registration and Community Rally

(PORTLAND, MAINE) - Four bands, candidates for federal office and the State Legislature, and free watermelon and whoopie pies are expected to lure more than 200 young people and other community members to York this Sunday, August 10th for the Seacoast Democrats' "Let's Wake It Up" Vote '08 Voter Registration and Community Rally.

The event is geared toward arming young people with candidate information and voter registration cards. The Democrats will be getting some help from four bands: local rock band Egotripmusic www.myspace.com/egotripmusic; Jenny O, a singer-songwriter from L.A. www.myspace.com/jennyO; country/blues artist Elsa Cross www.myspace.com/elsaacross and popstar Tino www.myspace.com/tinopopstar.

Candidates in attendance include Rep. and U.S. Senate nominee Tom Allen; young Maine State House District #144 candidate Jordan Landry; Sean Flaherty, the young candidate for Maine State House District #127; Chuck Ott, retired school superintendant and community activist; and State Representative Dawn Hill from District #149.

The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at Lobster in the Rough (Route 1) in York from 1:00-4:00 p.m. this Sunday, August 10th.
