Governor Baldacci and Speaker Cummings Challenge Packed House to Join Unprecedented Voter Registration Effort
(PORTLAND) - Governor John Baldacci and House Speaker Glenn Cummings joined Maine residents, campaign volunteers and staff at the Grand Opening of Obama's Campaign for Change Portland Office today. Volunteers packed the Portland office and signed up to make calls, knock on doors, and register new voters.
"Barack Obama will take on the tough challenges of providing affordable energy to heat our homes and fuel our cars, making America more secure, and providing more opportunities for hardworking families," said Governor John Baldacci. "Obama's campaign is mobilizing thousands of volunteers to register voters and make sure every Mainer has a voice in this election."
Obama's Campaign for Change continues to gain momentum throughout the state. Volunteers are registering voters, canvassing their neighborhoods, and talking with friends and neighbors about Barack Obama's plan for change.
"Barack Obama has the vision and commitment to deliver meaningful change for Mainers and their families," said House Speaker Glenn Cummings. "All across the state, volunteers are organizing friends, family, and neighbors to vote for change in this historic election."
Obama's Campaign for Change has several offices around the Pine Tree State with more set to open in the coming weeks.
