(PORTLAND, MAINE) - The Maine Democratic Party announced today the launch of the Maine Campaign for Change.
The project will work to harness the enthusiasm of Obama's grassroots-level supporters and organize them in communities across Maine-neighbor to neighbor, friend to friend, and colleague to colleague-working for the benefit of Democratic candidates up and down the ticket.
Campaign for Change Field Director Ronnie Cho will lead the Maine Campaign for Change. Ronnie Cho has worked in Democratic politics for the past eight years. Ronnie worked for the Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign in Iowa in 2004, and helped successfully re-elect Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano in Arizona in 2006. Since March 2007, Ronnie has served on the Obama for America campaign in Iowa, Arizona, Texas and Indiana.
U.S. Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign today also announced a number of key staffers. Leading the Maine team for Obama for America will be Obama for America State Director Toby McGrath and Obama for America Communications Director Jessica Santillo.
"Maine is ready for change. We cannot afford a third Bush term of a failing economy, an energy crisis, and a mismanaged war. Our strong volunteer base will work with the campaign team to mobilize Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and Green voters from every corner of the state to elect Barack Obama as President," said State Director Toby McGrath.
Obama for America State Director Toby McGrath joins the campaign after serving as Chief of Staff to Maine House Speaker Glen Cummings. He is an experienced and influential political professional in Maine politics and is credited with helping to increase the Democrats' lead in the State House from 1 to 30 in the 2006 election. He has worked on various campaign efforts in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.
Obama for America Communications Director Jessica Santillo is a veteran of several political campaigns and the U.S. Congress. She joins the Obama campaign after serving on the Hillary Clinton for President communications team in several battleground states, including Iowa, Colorado, Texas, and West Virginia.
